Tijdschrift voor Geschiedenis is a general historical journal, which means that it is a publication for all disciplines within history and related disciplines. The journal is a publication for everyone interested in history.

Tijdschrift voor Geschiedenis publishes general historiographic or review articles as wel as more specialist articles.
Articles must conform to general norms of the academic community of historical studies; articles must also be original and contribute to the study of history in a meaningful way. All contributions are evaluated by external experts by means of double-blind peer review.
Articles in this journal have Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs), which are registered with CrossRef. The DOI is a unique number that identifies a published article. The DOI provides a link to current information about that article, including where it can be found online, irrespective of any changes in the journal or publishing company website.
For long-term preservation, all issues of this journal are archived at the Dutch National Library and Portico.
